A cold Friday night saw Casuals Colts travel to Daventry to play a double header match – League and Cup. Due to cancellations earlier in the season this was Casuals first match in the league but the quarter finals of the cup competition. Daventry were short of players, but in the true spirit of the game Casuals lent them three players to enable the match to take place.

After a slow start to the first half Casuals had the first score. Following a lineout in Daventry’s 22 where they formed a maul, Oscar Jennings made a break from the back of the maul to dot the ball down over the goal line. Olly Walker successfully slotting over the conversion. During the next phase saw Blake Payne hit a hard line breaking through the defence and scoring. Another successful conversion followed. From the next scrum Oscar Jennings picked up the ball to make a breakaway run and popped the ball to Finley Shelton who dotted the ball down in the far corner. Unfortunately, the conversion was missed. Just before half time Casuals managed to score again with a converted try.

HT – 0-26.

Casuals continued to cross the goal line in the second half with an unconverted try each for Lucca Haskins and Alfie Pullen. Daventry never gave up but despite their dogged defence Casuals managed to claim another unconverted try before the final whistle. A very mixed game saw Casuals come away with the league points and also progressing to the semi-finals of the Cup Competition.

FT – 0-41

Good luck to the team in their semi-final. Details will be listed in the fixtures list for the team as soon as it is announced. If you are free why not go and give the boys your support.
