With excitement building for the Women’s Rugby World Cup Northampton Casuals RFC is launching a special activity for local families this Summer with a digital treasure hunt that encourages children to get active and discover more about the sport.
17 local businesses and organisations are supporting the initiative by displaying treasure hunt posters, each featuring a unique QR code. Participants scan the codes to reveal letters and once all 17 have been found they can unravel the clue and enter a prize draw!
“We’re really excited to bring this engaging activity to Northampton ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup,” said Club Chairman, Nick Smith. “It is a fantastic way for families to enjoy some active time together and find out more about rugby. Our thriving girls rugby section is welcoming new players who’d like to give our sport a try this summer - drop us a line on social media to find out more!”
The treasure hunt runs to 20 September - with the prize draw taking place on 21 September. Prizes generously donated include family theatre tickets from Royal and Derngate, Rugby World Cup balls, family cinema and swim tickets and afternoon tea.
The treasure hunt is the brainchild of Horsham RFC, who are fundraising for Maddy’s Mark, a charity that supports the mental wellbeing of girls and young women. Funding school programmes and partnering with clubs, the charity aims to make rugby accessible to all. It was founded in memory of Maddy Lawrence, who tragically passed away in 2022 at the age of 20, following a rugby injury sustained whilst playing for her university team.
