Steve Coogan and Sam Turner, Colts coaches at Casuals, have been selected as assistant coaches for the East Midlands Under 18 boys squad for the 2026/27 season. It’s a huge endorsement of this coaching partnership, who’ve worked together to bring renewed ambition to the Casuals Colts set up with a focus on progressing and integrating players into the senior section of the club.

Into his fifth season of coaching, Sam is a highly regarded coach who brings youthful energy and pace to sessions. His ambition for all players to push hard to reach their potential has seen Casuals produce some excellent young talent in recent years, many of whom have progressed to regional squads.

Coogs brings a wealth of experience to the coaching set up with a range of playing and coaching experience up to professional levels. Two decades into coaching, he’s still got a real passion and flair for bringing the best out of a team and creating strong players and squads.

Bringing together some of the best players from across the region, the East Midlands U18 squad is a hotbed of rugby talent. With Coogs and Sam in the mix, players this season can expect a fantastic coaching experience bringing benefits to them personally and also back into where they play their club rugby.

Congratulations to Coogs and Sam and good luck!
