A season to celebrate at Northampton Casuals

A season to celebrate at Northampton Casuals

Casuals PR13 May - 07:36

The Casuals community reflected on a fantastic 2025/26 season at the recent Annual Dinner.

Capping off a year of hard-fought matches, exciting off pitch developments, high profile events and unwavering club spirit, the recent Annual Dinner was a real celebration!

Stephen Myler, Saints legend, joined us to share anecdotes and insights from his time in the professional game and a fantastic evening was had by all. From the grassroots energy of our junior section to the grit of our senior squads, the end of season awards highlight the dedication that defines our club.

Here are the standout individuals who took home the silverware this year:

The 2025/26 Season Award Winners

1st XV Player of the Year – Jake Wardell
The top honour for our senior men goes to Jake Wardell. The Club Captain-elect, Jake’s had a strong performance record on the pitch; his ability to change the momentum of a game make him this season’s standout performer.

Colts Player of the Year – Tristan Spence
A dynamic and exciting player, Tristan has set the standard for the Colts this season and has progressed through to the senior squad superbly. Compelling to watch and committed off the pitch, Tristan shows that the future of Casuals senior rugby is in very capable hands!

Women’s Player of the Year – Kath Middleditch
A cornerstone of the Women’s XV, Kath’s performances have been consistently outstanding, with huge defensive efforts and a natural attacking flair. She leads by example with dedication, positivity, and genuine passion for the game and the club.

Darren “Mitch” Mitchell Coaching Award – Hayden Coates
Named in honour of a club legend, this award recognises coaching excellence. Hayden, in charge of the current Under 10s, has shown a remarkable ability to develop talent and foster a positive team culture, embodying the "Mitch" spirit of rugby.

Pete Gable Mini and Junior Clubman Award – Alfie W (U15s)
Alfie represents everything we love about our junior section. His dedication to the Under 15s goes beyond just playing; his attitude, sportsmanship, and willingness to help his teammates and the wider club define what it means to be a Casual.

Clubman of the Year – Brad Tarry
Brad has worked tirelessly this season to transform the fabric of our club. A key player in the clubhouse refurbishment Brad also managed to upgrade the WiFi! He’s been instrumental in securing high profile matches and events, and continues to push forward the club’s development.

Norman Barker Award – James Gibbins
This award is a prestigious nod to long-term service and loyalty to the club, named after a pillar of the rugby community, Norman Barker, who passed away in 2020. James is a worthy winner - a talisman for Casuals on the pitch, and an inspirational mentor to our younger players. Thank you Gibbo!

A huge congratulations to all our winners and a massive thank you to everyone - players, sponsors, families and supporters - who made this season one to remember.
